Pathology
The pathology department examines the samples obtained from the removal of body lesions. All types of samples sent from body tissues, whether benign or malignant lesions, must be examined by pathology, and according to the global protocol, every sample that comes out of a person's body must be sent to the pathology department. In the pathology department, in addition to the diagnosis of lesions based on the usual staining (H&E), special staining and immunohistochemical studies are used to know the true nature of tumors.
After passaging, the sample is put into the tissue processor by the pathologist, and then the samples are put into paraffin, cut, and colored by (H&E) staining method, and the pathologist examines them under a microscope. In the pathology department, in addition to body tissues, body fluids such as synovial fluid , ascetic fluid, pleural effusion and aspiration samples of lesions, which is called cytology, are also performed. Pap smear is also performed to recognize all types of cervical lesions, including infectious and neoplastic lesions.
