11- Ziaieh School: This school is also known as Alexander Prison; by hearing these two quite different names, you may ask yourself why two different names have been considered for this place. In response, it should be said: the different names indicate the dual use of this place. Ziaieh school, which is known as one of the tourist attractions of Yazd, was built in 631 AH. However, in some documents, the year of construction of this place is 705 AH.
This place was originally built as a place for teaching and learning science, and usually held discussions for scholars and elders. Now, why it is called Alexander Prison can be explained in this way: a few years after the construction of this building, a number of exiles and prisoners of Alexander the Great were sent to Yazd, and for this reason, this name is considered for this place. It was in 1967 that this place was included in the list of national monuments of Iran due to its attractions for visitors. In fact, this historical place is a sign of civilization, history, identity and culture of the Iranian people, which is very important in this regard. To see this valuable historical place, you can go to the historical neighborhood of Fahadan, next to the tomb of the Twelve Imams.
